In 2000 and 2001, Champoeg State Heritage Area was the site of an international event called Bioblitz. Over two 24 hour periods each year, experts in biology, zoology, botany, entomology and other disciplines converged on the park to count as many species as possible.

The largest park in the Oregon State Park system, Silver Falls (east of Salem in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains) is home to more birds and mammals than you can shake a stick at. BEfore taking a trip to the park, download these two lists so you can keep track of the fauna you run into:
