Low-Water Launch Ramp Improvements

New boat ramp at Mongold Day Day-use Area at Detroit Lake.
New low-water ramp at Mongold Day-use Area.
The existing low-water, asphalt launch ramp at Mongold provided year-round access to Detroit Lake, but was extremely flat. This caused unsafe conditions for launching and retrieving boats. In November 2008, OPRD began construction of a new low-water launch ramp and extensions to four lanes of the existing high-water ramp.

The new concrete, low-water ramp is 825 feet long and is located approximately 700 feet southwest of the existing high-water ramp. The right lane of the high-water ramp provides access to the new ramp.

Because last winter's water levels were higher than anticipated, approximately 200 feet of the low-water ramp will be completed in December 2009.
