GENERAL:
This is how we handle information we learn about you from your visit to our Web site. The information we receive depends upon what you do when visiting our site. We do not share any information we receive with outside parties except organizations that host our Web site or part of it, except as otherwise disclosed and except as might be required by law.
IF YOU VISIT OUR WEB SITE TO READ OR DOWNLOAD INFORMATION, SUCH AS FORMS OR NEWSLETTERS:
We collect and store general information about each session for purposes of site management and design. This may include the following:
- The Internet Protocol (IP) address used. The IP address is a numerical identifier permanently or temporarily assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider. Example: 159.121.106.251. This is required while you are on-line to respond to your browser requests. It is saved in system logs for possible use in monitoring system use and security, but is not combined with other information.
- The Domain name (DNS), if any, assigned on the Internet to your IP Address. Example: somename.com. This is aggregated to help us identify which organizations are our most frequent users so we can better target our content for the audience
- The type of browser and operating system you used. Example: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows NT; IE4WDUS-1998101501). This helps us determine what techniques to use on our pages so that they work with the software people are using, and helps us respond to problems about usage.
- The date and time you visited this site. This is aggregated so we can understand and prepare for traffic patterns.
- The Web pages or services you accessed at this site. This is aggregated so we can evaluate the usefulness of various pages.
- The Web site you visited prior to coming to our site. This is summarized so we can learn how visitors get to our site, i.e., from a search engine, from a link on another site, etc.
- Similar information about the connection.
- Portions of our site are hosted by third parties. We may request this information from them about pages that they host.
We do not track individual user navigation choices. For example, we don’t track whether you went from our home page, to a page about licensees, to a form that requested public information.
For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, we may monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. If security monitoring reveals evidence of possible abuse or criminal activity, system personnel may provide the results of such monitoring to appropriate officials. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under state law and Federal statutes including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act of 1996.
For site management purposes, this government computer system uses software programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical-design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas.
IF YOU IDENTIFY YOURSELF BY SENDING AN E-MAIL:
You also may decide to send us personally-identifying information, for example, in a request for information or in a suggestion for improvement. Should we receive such e-mail, it will contain personally-identifying information (e.g., your e-mail address). Any information that we collect via e-mail will be handled in accordance with the requirements of Oregon Law (including ORS 676.175 and ORS 677.425 pertaining to confidentiality of complaints and ORS 192.410 ff., Inspection of Public Records) in like manner as a letter received by U.S. mail.
We may redirect your message to another government agency in a better position to answer your question.
E-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. If your communication is very sensitive, or includes personal information like your bank account, charge card, or social security number, you may wish to call us or send it by postal mail or fax instead.
For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.
