The Passenger Rail Program is responsible for the planning and development of Oregon's growing passenger rail service, including contracting for train and motorcoach service and supervising rail improvement projects within the federally designated High Speed Rail Corridor between Eugene and Portland.

Oregon Competing for $2.1 Billion in High Speed Rail Funding
On July 16, Governor Ted Kulongoski announced that ODOT applied for $2.1 billion in federal funding through the High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail program, an opportunity provided by the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

     15,131, up 5.6% over 2ND QTR 2008
 

[1] June is the third consecutive month of 2009 to post a decline in total corridor ridership.  
[2] This is the sharpest percentage decline for any month so far of 2009.  Due to a UP maintenance project buses were substituted for Train 500 on 18 days and for Train 504 on 19 days this month. 
[3] June is the first month of 2009 to show a decline in riders compared with 2008.
