Discretionary Grants
Special Transportation Operating/Jobs and Transportation Act Solicitation
The Public Transit Division is announcing the availability of additional funds for transportation services benefitting older adults and people with disabilities. The STF Agencies will be responsible for managing a local process to identify eligible projects for funding.

The division distributed a preliminary announcement of these two programs in mid-July 2009. There are two major changes to the prior announcement:
  • The Jobs and Transportation Act has more funds than originally estimated. The funds increased from the original $13.4 million to $20.9 million. Because of the increased amount of funds, the division increased the minimum allocation of Jobs and Transportation Act to each STF Agency from $65,000 to $90,000.
  • The due date for applications for both Special Transportation Operating and Jobs and Transportation Act is October 30, 2009 not November 30, 2009, as originally stated.

Biennial Solicitation
During each biennium, the division conducts a competitive grant solicitation.  Public Transit Division staff recommendations are reviewed by the PTAC and are ultimately approved by the OTC. In response to the past program complexities, the upcoming biennium’s grant program is being simplified.
