| Description |
|
DMV's most common regular issue (standard) license plate is the Tree graphic. However, DMV also offers special interest graphic plates like Salmon, Crater Lake and Cultural Trust. In addition, certain vehicles may be eligible for our Amateur Radio Operator (HAM), Antique Vehicle or Special Vehicle license plates.
Images of most of our regular-issue and special interest license plates are included in the section below. However, if you can not find a specific license plate, refer to our main license plate index page for a more comprehensive list. Tree
|
Plate Fees: $23 per set
Available For: Passenger Vehicles

Salmon
|
Plate Fees: $53 per set ($30 surcharge + $23 plate fee). A $30 surcharge is due at issuance for a standard two-year registration period and at every renewal. The surcharge is $60 when a four-year registration period is required (new vehicles).
Surcharge Supports: Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department

Crater Lake
|
Plate Fees: $43 per set ($20 surcharge + $23 plate fee). The $20 surcharge is a one-time surcharge. It is the same for both two-year and four-year (new vehicle) registration periods.
Surcharge Supports: Crater Lake National Park
Available For: Passenger Vehicles

Cultural Trust
|
Plate Fees: $53 per set ($30 surcharge + $23 plate fee). The $30 surcharge is due at issuance and at every renewal. It is the same for both two-year and four-year (new vehicle) registration periods.
Surcharge Supports: Oregon Cultural Trust
Available For: Passenger Vehicles

Amateur (HAM) Radio Operator
|
General Information: Amateur Radio Operator plates can be issued in Salmon, Crater Lake and Cultural Plate designs in addition to the yellow background plate shown to the left. The digits reflect the call letters issued to the amateur radio operator.
Who Qualifies: The plates are only issued to Oregon residents who hold valid, unrevoked and unexpired amateur radio station licenses issued by the Federal Communications Commission. An Application for Amateur Radio Call Letter Registration Plates must be completed and submitted to certify that you have a valid amateur radio license.
Plate Fees: $12 for Mopeds or Motorcycles; $23 per set for other vehicles.
Additional Fees: $5 (one-time fee). If a Salmon, Crater Lake or Cultural Trust plate is chosen as background for a passenger vehicle, see the sections above for information on surcharges.
Available For: Passenger Vehicles in yellow background, Salmon design, Crater Lake design, or Cultural Trust design plates, and for Mopeds, Motorcycles, and Motor Homes in a yellow background only.

Antique Vehicle
|
General Information: In 2009, a vehicle must have been manufactured in 1955 or earlier to qualify for this license plate. Vehicles must be maintained as a collector's item.
Plate Fees: $12 (one plate issued)
Available For: Passenger Vehicles, Motor Homes, Buses, Mopeds, Motorcycles, Trucks, Travel Trailers, Campers, Special Use Trailers, Heavy Trailers and Light Trailers.

Special Vehicle
|
General Information: This plate is issued to a vehicle that is maintained as a collector’s item and is at least 25 years old at the time of application, a vehicle sanctioned as a vehicle of special interest by an established organization that provides for recognition, or is a street rod as defined by ORS 801.513. This plate is also issued to a vehicle that is a racing activity vehicle as defined in Oregon law. Vehicles may only be used for exhibitions, parades, club activities and similar uses.
Plate Fees: $12 (one plate issued)
Available For: Passenger Vehicles, Motor Homes, Buses, Mopeds, Motorcycles, Trucks, Travel Trailers, Campers, Special Use Trailers, Heavy Trailers and Light Trailers.

Registration fees depend on many factors. The fees in the table above are only for the plates themselves and do not include other registration fees. For more information on vehicle registration and the associated fees, see our registration page, registration renewal page, and/or vehicle fees page.
If you are changing to the Tree, Salmon, Crater Lake or Cultural Trust plates or replacing a plate, the fee is $5 at renewal or $10 if you are between renewals. For the Amateur Radio, Antique Vehicle and Special Vehicle plates, the fee is $5 regardless of when you are getting the plate.
