Oregon Digital Driver License

Oregon's Digital Driver License and ID Cards offer new features that improve security and enhance fraud prevention.

Security Features
  • Tamper-resistant laminate with “Oregon” in print that varies in color from different viewing angles and glows under ultraviolet light
  • More durable and tamper-resistant card
  • Small “ghost image” copy of card holder’s photo
  • Overlapping type and graphics, including image of state Capitol
  • State of Oregon seal overlapping card holder’s photo
  • Bar-coded information on back
  • Digitized signature on back

Cards for Minors
Cards held by minors bear age notices for alcohol and tobacco vendors. The notices are printed in the red border around the photo. Also, the minor’s photo is placed on the right side of the card, instead of the left.

Types of Cards
The new design is used for:
  • Driver licenses (distinguished by a blue bar),
  • ID cards (green bar), and
  • Commercial Driver Licenses (CDL) (red bar).

DMV selected these security features with help from Oregon law enforcement, other state and local government agencies, and Oregon businesses. With their input, a format was chosen that is easier to read, is more difficult to alter or counterfeit, and that more readily identifies minors.
