| Summary of Changes |
|
Following is a summary of the changes that have been made since the Instruction Manual was last revised in August 2002:
- The title was changed from "User Guide for Insurance Companies" to "Reporting Instruction Manual for Insurance Companies".
- A revision date has been added to the cover.
- Throughout the document, text has been edited for improved clarity and accuracy.
Section 4
- 4.1: Text has been edited to reflect the changed criteria for rejections in the load. Formerly, loads would be processed regardless of the error rate. We have changed this to allow an error rate of up to 25%.
- 4.2: Text has been edited to reflect a change in information required on an external diskette label (date range of records is no longer required).
- 4.3: Text has been added to clarify that non-EDI reporting is only allowed as long as you insure 1,000 or fewer vehicles, and that once you exceed this limit, you are required to change to EDI reporting.
Section 5
- 5.2: Text has been edited to indicate that testing must be conducted prior to switching from one diskette type to another.
- 5.2 Text has been added to indicate that a company sending an initial load on diskette but reporting EDI must pass EDI testing prior to the load being processed. Text has also been added to indicate that a load diskette may be used as a test diskette - it is not necessary to submit a separate test diskette.
- 5.3: Text has been edited to reflect a change in information required on an external diskette label (date range of records is no longer required.)
Section 6
- 6.1: Text has been edited to show that the following fields are now optional:
- first name
- middle name
- date of birth
- customer ID number
- customer ID number jurisdiction
- ZIP code
Text has been added to clarify the difference between vehicle specific and non-vehicle specific policy types.
Text under 'VIN' has been edited to show the Web site address for R. L. Polk, where you may purchase VIN editing software.
- 6.3: The following obsolete error codes were deleted: 025, 030, 045, 065, 105, 110, 215, 221. The following new error codes were added: 230, 281, 282, 283, 284, 285.
- 6.4: The Data Element table has been extensively edited to show the new data validation rules.
- 6.5: The Data Record Definitions have been edited to reflect changes from mandatory to optional for some data elements.
Section 7 (Glossary)
- 'Match' has been redefined to indicate that we will match to vehicle records only; we will not match to customer records.
