DMV and Department of Administrative Services lease negotiators signed an agreement Wednesday night, Sept. 30, for a temporary DMV field office in Corvallis.
The site, located at 1755 NW Ninth St., is expected to open by mid-October. DMV will operate at this location until a permanent site is ready for use.
“DMV is committed to staying in Corvallis,” DMV Field Services Manager Stephanie Miles said. “Once the temporary office is open, we’ll be able to plan our move into a permanent site with minimal disruption in service.”
The temporary office’s hours of business will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All five DMV staff members from the former Corvallis office will be assigned to the Corvallis temporary office once it opens for business.
The temporary office will offer all the same services as the old location except for drive tests. Passenger vehicle drive tests may be added if a suitable route is identified that meets Oregon standards. The temporary site will not offer drive tests for commercial vehicles or motorcycle endorsements.
Until the temporary office opens, DMV encourages residents to visit OregonDMV.com to see if they can do their business online or by mail, or to call the local number to make sure they are prepared before traveling to a DMV field office in a nearby community.
Also, DMV staff will be available at the Memorial Union on the Oregon State University campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, to review documents that customers need before they travel to a DMV office in a nearby community.
For transactions that require people to visit DMV in person – such as driver license renewals – Corvallis-area residents can use offices in nearby cities, such as Albany, Dallas and Junction City. DMV office locations and business hours are listed at OregonDMV.com.
