Overview
The 2007 Oregon Legislature approved a second authorization of $100 million for the ConnectOregon program. Also known as ConnectOregon II, this second authorization built on the success of ConnectOregon I and will continue to improve the flow of commerce, remove delays and improve safety. Thirty projects were funded through ConnectOregon II, 25 projects are active, four are complete and one has not yet started.

More than 70 applications for funding were reviewed by a series of committees as outlined by statute and rule. If additional funding becomes available due to inability of a project on the approved list to go to contract, the Oregon Transportation Commission will move funds to the next project on the prioritized project list.

Projects funded

ODOT has been pleased to work with community groups, business leaders, local governments and other interested people to ensure ConnectOregon II funds were allotted wisely, helping all corners of the state build strong foundations for multimodal transportation systems.

Example of ConnectOregon II project: Mt. Hood Railroad gets back on track
Grant funds from ConnectOregon II helped restore 22 miles of rail line in Hood River County and bring back a long-established freight line as well as a tourism draw that has been missing since 2006. By relocating the river channel and rebuilding sections of the line, area businesses have been able to re-establish in the area.

Pictures and brief overviews of some of the projects funded are included in the ConnectOregon brochure. (pdf)
