Reductions to the department's 2007-09 and 2009-11 budgets
The 2009 Legislature is nearing final approval of a budget for the Oregon Department of Forestry for the two years beginning July 1.

Features of the budget include a 12.5 percent reduction in state General Funds, focused in the Private Forests Program. Reductions include about 27 of the department's 57 stewardship foresters, elimination in Salem of much field and technical support for administering the Forest Practices Act, and discontinuation of direct support for the Oregon Plan.
