Join West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation staff and Skyline Ridge Neighbors for a FREE workshop on invasive weeds in the West Hills. You’ll learn how to identify and control some of the worst invasive plants in your area. All interested landowners are invited to attend Saturday, February 6, at the Skyline Grange, 10 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Register by clicking “Events” at www.wmswcd.org.

A short slideshow with the most menacing invasive weeds will be followed by a hands-on demonstration of how to use a variety of tools to combat these formidable foes! The demonstration will include lessons on how to use a weed wrench, knotweed injection gun and how to create a tree-ivy lifesaver ring.

Invasive weeds to be included are:
  • English ivy
  • Clematis
  • English hawthorne
  • Holly
  • Himalayan blackberry
  • Knotweed
  • Garlic mustard
What are invasive weeds? They are invasive, non-native plants introduced to an environment where they harm the local ecology by displacing native plants and wildlife, impede water quality and flow, increase soil erosion, decrease land value and alter ecosystems.
West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District mission: “Conserve and protect soil and water resourcesfor people, wildlife and the environment.”
