|
Ownership inspection (also called "brand inspection") is required by Oregon Law for cattle, whether they are branded or not, to verify ownership in the following instances:
- Whenever a change of ownership occurs (with few exceptions)
- Before shipment out of state
- Before sale at auction
- Before slaughter at a slaughterhouse

|
|
Base cattle inspection fees: - Brand inspection = $ 1.00 per head. Required for change of ownership or interstate shipment.
- Beef Council = $ 1.50 per head. Required for change of ownership, except as noted below.
- If the brand inspector travels to your place for inspection, there is a travel fee of $25 per trip.
