Governor's Statement on the Passing of David Lett, Oregon's "Papa Pinot"
(Salem)–"No one knows where Oregon 's wine industry would be without David. But we do know that his 3,000 vines were the beginning of creating Oregon 's world-renowned Pinot Noir.
"His contributions are immeasurable, but can be experienced by all who visit Oregon's wine country and enjoy the many wines produced by all who followed his lead.
"My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I hope they know that the state of Oregon will always be grateful to David for his legendary trek to Oregon's Willamette Valley."
