Overview

When we look out at the future of Oregon’s population, the numbers are startling: In less than 20 years, nearly one in five Oregonians will be over the age of 65.  If we do not prepare now, the challenges of the future will be immense.  However, with thoughtful planning and investment, we can create a wave of opportunity for Oregon and Oregon’s future senior population.

The following represent the highest priority issues for seniors in the 2007 Legislative Session, in addressing the future of Oregon’s services for seniors and people with disabilities:

During the first fifty days of the 2007 Legislative Session, the Governor's Commission on Senior Services will distributed educational papers on each of these priority items.  We continue to seek your support to help ensure a future of real hope and real opportunity for all Oregonians by preparing now for the aging boom that is to come.
