About the FAS Prevention Program

The FAS Prevention Program is part of the Women's and Perinatal Health Section in the Office of Family Health.

What We Do: We are a prevention-based program, funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The FAS program consists of four components: Surveillance, Tracking Resources, Individual-Level Intervention and Community-Level Intervention.

Our current projects include:

  • Surveillance - working to establish the prevalence of FAS in Oregon.
  • Tracking resources - working to identify resources available to families and children with FAS.
  • Individual-Level Intervention - working to evaluate an intervention for college-age women who binge drink.
  • Community-Level Intervention - working to evaluate materials for women to use through website and hotline assistance.
