Quitting takes Practice

It took awhile for you to become addicted to tobacco. It can take awhile to quit as well. It's hard to do it on your own - and research shows that people are more successful at quitting when they have help. Help takes many forms. One-to-one counseling, nicotine patches, and medication can all help you quit tobacco.
The Oregon Tobacco Quit Line can get you started. Counselors on the other end know what you're going through- many were former smokers. They'll talk to you about the options available to help you make those positive steps to becoming tobacco-free.
We can't make it easy. We CAN make it easier.
- The Oregon Tobacco Quit Line
Oregon's statewide, toll-free telephone cessation support service. Developed to provide Oregon residents with cessation assistance and resource information.
- Neva's Story
Neva Johnson has not smoked a cigarette since she called the Oregon Tobacco Quit Line. She had been smoking for 28 years, since she was 14. The years of smoking left her out of breath, to the point that she couldn't walk like she wanted. After seeing a Oregon Tobacco Quit Line television ad, she picked up the phone, called, and reached a cessation specialist who talked with her for an hour. He answered all her questions and made it sound easy, giving her steps to follow and the confidence to do it.
