- Walk to School
Walk to School is a program that aims to get children to walk and bicycle to school in groups accompanied by adults or when appropriate, on their own. This gives children a chance to be more physically active, to practice safe pedestrian skills, and to learn more about their environments.
At the same time, Walk to School encourages people to change their neighborhoods for the better, working together, to make walking and biking a safe and enjoyable part of everyone's lives. www.walknbike2school.org
- Oregon 5 A Day Partnership
The Oregon 5 A Day Partnership forges working partnerships with key government agencies, industry and private sector groups, the health community, and nonprofit groups, leveraging resources and mobilizing professionals at the state and community levels, to increase Oregonian's daily consumption of vegetables and fruits to 5-9 servings as part of a healthy lifestyle.
5-A-Day Partners: Partners are individual or organizations in Oregon interested in promoting fruit and vegetable consumption as part of a healthy life style.
- Safe Routes to School
The Safe Routes to School (SR2S) Oregon Supplement serves as Oregon's supplement to the national NHTSA Safe Routes to School Toolkit. The NHTSA toolkit is a complete guide and handbook for developing a Safe Routes to School program. The Oregon Supplement provides facts and planning guidance specific to Oregon and shows how Oregon schools and communities are encouraging and enabling kids to walk and bike to school. We recommend that Oregon schools and communities use the NHTSA toolkit with this supplement.
