Health Care Interpreters: Oregon Council

 

ORS 409.615 to 625 created a 25 member Council on Health Care Interpreters that is advisory to the Department of Human Services for purposes of establishing through administrative rule and DHS policy standards that address, in part:

  • Formal education and/or training in medical terminology and medical ethics;
  • Documentation of practical experience as a health care interpreter;

  • Demonstration of fluency in oral and written language skills in English and in the language for which certification is sought; and,
  • Explore feasibility of a central registry.
