LIEAP Assistance For Existing OHOP Clients ONLY:

The OHOP program is able to provide existing OHOP clients with heating assistance through direct payments to the client's heating utility or fuel vendor.  Payments can range from $150 to $655 per client household per year depending on the household's income and need.

2006/2007 Heating Season Process:  

1. Clients must complete a LIEAP questionairre, which the OHOP program will mail to clients directly.  The form includes questions about the client's need for LIEAP assistance and specific questions about any changes in the household's income and membership since the client's last OHOP certification.

2. Clients then mail the form with a copy of the client's most recent utility bill to the client's OHOP housing coordinator.

3. The client's housing coordinator will contact the client if additional information is needed.

4. The client's housing coordinator will request a LIEAP payment if the client is eligible, and the housing coordinator will send notice of the request directly to the client.

OHOP clients must respond no later than December 31, 2006 regardless of whether or not they need LIEAP assistance this year.

For existing OHOP clients, the Ryan White Title II case manager will not need to do anything other than a) be aware that the OHOP program is contacting OHOP clients to provide this assistance, and b) help out the OHOP coordinator if she needs help contacting the client or obtaining documentation of the client's utility bills, income, etc.
