The CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics developed a 2-day “Statistical Workshop” designed to assist State and local public health professionals, health-related NGO staff, and members of the academic community in understanding the issues related to tracking public health indicators, such as the Healthy People 2010 objectives. 

 

 

The workshop was general in scope, and addressed issues that are applicable to staff and researchers working in a wide variety of public health settings.  The course also provided insight into the deliberations and challenges encountered in producing data for a national, comprehensive health initiative.
