Its goals, objectives and strategies can be used as a roadmap or guide for communities and organizations as they select their priorities for action. The strategies address public, patient and provider education, cancer disparities, public policy and surveillance.

CD Summary Newsletters: Oregon Comprehensive Cancer Control
The CD Summary is a publication of the Oregon Department of Human Services, Office of Disease Prevention and Epidemiology (ODPE), distributed every two weeks to health care providers and various public health agencies inside and beyond Oregon; media representatives; medical laboratories; hospitals; and other health professionals and institutions. Articles are contributed by staff members of the various programs within ODPE.

    In 2004, a group of clinicians, public health professionals, and concerned citizens came together and developed the Oregon Comprehensive Cancer Plan. The plan addresses issues such as how best to ensure access to evidence-based, state-of-the-art cancer treatment, and strategies to decrease disparities in cancer burden.

Keeping Oregonians Healthy is a statewide report that summarizes information about the burden of chronic diseases and related risk factors among Oregonians. It provides information about how many people in our state are affected by various diseases or conditions that can cause them. It also reviews differences in rates of these conditions by county, by socioeconomic status, and between racial and ethnic communities in the state. Finally, it describes effective strategies through which we can manage and even prevent chronic disease among the state's population.
