Asthma Care in Oregon - What Have We Learned?
An Inside Look at Data from 2001-2005
Asthma Care Resources
As the data above demonstrate, there have been improvements in some areas of asthma care, but other areas can and should be improved. The partnerships between the Oregon Asthma Program and many different organizations, plans, communities, clinics, and individuals have resulted in a number of resources that focus on improving asthma health outcomes, such as the following:
- The Guide to Improving Asthma Care in Oregon
This tool provides a standard of asthma care for health systems, health plans and quality improvement organizations by defining common measures to track success in improving asthma care. There are eight priority areas for improving asthma care.
- Pocket Guide to Improving Asthma Care
- A quick-reference pocket guide for health care providers that summarizes key information from the 2002 update of the National Asthma Education Prevention Program Guidelines.
- Asthma Quality Improvement Project – Interactive learning forums that aim to provide clinics with tools to implement a quality improvement project around asthma.
- Oregon Asthma Resource Bank – Online, clear and simple patient education handouts, provider tools, and school resources are readily available at no charge.
