HRBO for clients
This page describes how the Health Record Bank of Oregon (HRBO) can transform Oregon's medical assistance system.
Secure access
HRBO will provide clients access to their medical information through a secure Web portal. A single clients' medical history may be spread among many different offices, emergency rooms, labs and clinics. With existing health information in a secure place for clients may view their records and providers, with client authorization, may access:
- Medications prescribed
- Laboratory tests
- Reports
Partnerships in health care
HRBO will give OHP clients and providers a new level of access to health information. Clients will gain a better understanding of their personal health conditions and issues and be more active participant in their care.
Clients will be able to share their medical information with others who need to know in order to provide appropriate services. In the emergency room, HRBO will help providers decide the best treatment options when the client may not be able to do so.
Health care providers will have more information to provide clients with the best possible care.
- Clients will be less likely to receive tests, procedures or other services that they have already received from another provider.
- Providers will be able to locate the clients' history of medications prescribed by any provider before prescribing a new drug. This reduces the risk of negative drug interactions.
- Emergency room care will have access to critical medical information such as allergies, current treatments or medications, and prior diagnoses.
With the help of community partners, clients will have the opportunity to attend training sessions on how to access their personal information through the HRBO. Providers will be able to receive training and encourage their clients to make information available during their health care visit, as well as help them to use the HRBO.
