What CSU staff can do

  • Provide general information about OHP medical and dental benefits.
  • Coach clients on how to resolve problems involving access or quality of care.
  • Research allegations of inappropriate denials of covered benefits.
  • Refer inquiries to ombudsman offices for investigation when appropriate.
  • Refer members of managed care to their plan’s customer service when appropriate.
  • Research and resolve medical bills received by OHP clients.
  • Answer basic questions about OHP applications process and about general eligibility issues.
  • Issue Certificates of Creditable Coverage requested by clients leaving OHP and moving to commercial health insurance.
  • Process individual orders for OHP client handbooks.
  • Process requests for changing an assigned pharmacy.

What CSU staff cannot do

  • Refer clients to specific doctors, dentists or other clinics.
  • Send out lists of available providers.
  • Determine what health care services are covered or non-covered benefits for any specific client. (Clients should contact their health care provider).
  • Send out OHP applications or assist individuals with completion of the application. People who want to apply for OHP should call (1-800) 359-9517.
  • Determine eligibility for any state programs.
  • Change a client’s record. For example: CSU staff cannot add family members to cases, change address, or add private insurance information.
