Overview


Do you, or does someone you know, employ Homecare Workers?

 

Training is available to show you how to recruit, hire and manage your Homecare Worker and more fully direct your own services.

 

You, your family or advocate qualifies for FREE training if you receive In-Home Services through any of the following Department of Human Services programs:

Learn these important skills:

  • How to better understand your own needs.
  • Recruiting, interviewing and screening Homecare Worker applicants.
  • Selecting the best Homecare Worker for the job.
  • Creating an Employment Agreement.
  • Training your Homecare Worker.
  • Conducting evaluations and providing feedback.
  • Creating a backup and safety plan.
  • Providing a safe work environment.
  • Communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution.

 

Training options

  • Group workshops: Generally the workshops are 90 minutes to 2 hours or as requested to meet participant needs.
  • One-on-one: Learn employer skills at your local CIL, in your home or place of your choosing.
  • Guide on the side: For those who need repeated training sessions, with coaching and guidance to apply the skills learned and effectively employ and manage their homecare worker.
