DMV Record Checks - Employer Options
An agency doesn’t need to have a special account to order DMV records.  They can request record information using a DMV Request for Information Form (pdf).  There is a charge for this service.

Agencies may use a Record Inquiry Account.  To open a record inquiry account, an agency must complete an application and send a $70, non-refundable, application fee.  When approved, an agency is pre-qualified to receive record information.  Account holders are billed monthly for records requested, and have access to DMV´s Interactive Voice Response System (IVR).
  • IVR is an automated record inquiry system available only to record inquiry account holders.  Advantages for IVR users include 24-hour access to certain driver and vehicle record information, and overnight turnaround time for prints ordered through the system.
  • The Automated Reporting System (ARS) is a service provided to employers with drivers under their employment.  ARS provides a court print driving record when a conviction, accident, or suspension is posted to an employee’s record.  There is a fee to add, or delete names, and to produce a record.  The Automated Reporting System is only available to customers who have a valid Record Inquiry Account.
An option exists for Direct Terminal Access (DTA) which provides access to DMV screens.  Contact DMV Records Policy at (503) 945-8906 to discuss your agency’s need for this service.  There is a $60.00 annual fee and an access charge per record. State agencies use this service for a variety of reasons.
