Certificates of Coverage are documents that show proof that State of Oregon agencies and employees are covered by liability insurance. These documents are provided by Risk Management. To request a Certificate of Coverage, click here.
Other things to know about Certificates of Coverage:
- Requests should be made one week before the date needed.
- They do not cover the acts of independent contractors, non-state activities or outside organizations.
- They are issued only for official state programs and activities.
- Certificates may be issued for leased, borrowed or rented property. In these cases, the use of this property must be related to the mission of the agency.
- Blanket certificates are not generally issued; some exceptions include leases and certificates kept in state vehicles.
- Limits on the amounts of coverage are established by the amounts in the Oregon Tort Claims Act and cannot be exceeded by agreement.
- The entire agreement needs to be reviewed by Risk Management to make sure the terms of insurance coverage are okay.
