Certificates of Coverage
Certificates of Coverage are documents that show proof that State of Oregon agencies and employees are covered by liability insurance.  These documents are provided by Risk Management.  To request a Certificate of Coverage, click here.

Other things to know about Certificates of Coverage:

  • Requests should be made one week  before the date needed.
  • They do not cover the acts of independent contractors, non-state activities or outside organizations.
  • They are issued only for official state programs and activities.
  • Certificates may be issued for leased, borrowed or rented property.  In these cases, the use of this property must be related to the mission of the agency.
  • Blanket certificates are not generally issued; some exceptions include leases and certificates kept in state vehicles.
  • Limits on the amounts of coverage are established by the amounts in the Oregon Tort Claims Act and cannot be exceeded by agreement.
  • The entire agreement needs to be reviewed by Risk Management to make sure the terms of insurance coverage are okay.
